About us:
The UCSC Taekwondo Club is a student-run organization for students of all levels: from those who want to learn and have never stepped foot into a studio to athletes with over a decade of training. Our practices include conditioning and isolation for technique, along with separate beginner, advanced, and sparring practices tailored to skill level.
Why help?
As of now, our club is using sparring gear from when the club was founded, and it's no longer used in competition. Although it works in practice, other teams own Daedo gear that allows them to train closer to the conditions of a tournament. Our lack of Daedo gear prevents our athletes from training at the same level as those at other schools.
Why Daedo?
Daedo gear is electronic gear used in tournaments ranging from the local level all the way to the Olympics. The electronic scoring systems for sparring have been used in tournaments for over a decade and allow for incredible accuracy on the mat.
Your help directly supports the training for our taekwondo athletes to participate in tournaments, so we can confidently represent UC Santa Cruz across the state!
