EyeCandy Film Journal is an annually published, student-run media studies collection that focuses on culturally relevant and compelling topics that expand our relationships with film, television, and new media forms. EyeCandy provides writers with an opportunity to synthesize interests in film and television studies. By empowering students to further express their passions in a hands-on and productive environment, they are encouraged to cultivate their own critical and professional voices outside of the classroom.
Since EyeCandy's inception in the '90s, our primary goal has always been to give undergraduate students a platform to further discuss and explore diverse topics that expand their relationship with all forms of media. We aim to reach a variety of audiences as we push readers to question their own interpretation through the intricate work of media analysis.
Through the close-knit work of our writers and designers, alongside the guidance and agency from our leadership, EyeCandy Film Journal is a unique opportunity that allows students to critically engage with their specific media passions and connect them to a global perspective within a magazine. We further develop students' articles in the winter quarter. During spring quarter, students and leadership finalize articles to be ready to print, then distribute printed copies on campus for UCSC students to be inspired and engaged. We'd love for you to contribute to help sustain EyeCandy as we produce future publications!
