Help improve STEM Mentoring - Secret Society of Mentors

We are seeking support for our 1-year-old initiative, the ‘Secret Society of Mentors'. We want to support graduate students who mentor undergraduates in their labs by creating a supportive space to explore challenges and share strategies for effective mentoring. We have already hosted four successful workshops! Topics include:

• Improving communication and goal setting
• Providing a sense of belonging to mentees
• Navigating different mentorship styles
• Bridging cultural differences to better support international students

In our workshops, we share resources, brainstorm activities, and plan action items to help mentors assess their own experiences and identify areas that would benefit from wider discussion with fellow mentors.

Feedback from participants in our workshops has confirmed that our initiative helps mentors navigate real-life situations and promote open exchanges with mentees. This benefits undergraduate mentees by allowing them to make the best of their training experiences and benefits the graduate community by building a more robust mentor network.

Your donation to our Spring Give campaign will help us to continue hosting these events so we can bring up more issues that are important to our graduate community of mentors!
