The Center for the Middle East and North Africa (CMENA) at UC Santa Cruz is an internationally recognized research center and convener of public discussions. Established in 2019 in The Humanities Institute within the Humanities Division through a generous philanthropic gift, CMENA promotes education and research about the histories, politics, and cultures of the people who live in the Middle East and North Africa. CMENA fosters a deeper understanding of this geopolitically crucial region and equips students to engage with pressing global issues.
Even a small donation can make a big difference!
- A gift of $15 would allow a student to attend our annual Spring Concert, which features musicians from the region.
- $50 would contribute to the annual Student's Choice Lecture, a lecture series organized by and for UCSC undergraduates.
- $100 would fund three meetings of the Arabic Colloquium, a weekly meeting of faculty and students.
Your support will allow CMENA to expand programming, provide experiential learning opportunities for students, offer advanced language instruction, and prepare students for a wide variety of professional opportunities in the education, business, and nonprofit sectors.
