The Digital Scholarship Innovation Studio (DSI) provides a space for UC Santa Cruz students to create, experiment, explore, and bring their imaginations to life. Located in the Science & Engineering Library, the DSI provides hands-on educational opportunities for UCSC students from all disciplines.
The DSI prepares students for tomorrow’s workforce. Employers are hungry for graduates who possess the latest skills in prototyping, design, and manufacturing. The DSI offers a creative space where students can consider the full life cycle of 3D content while exploring and experimenting with the latest tools our neighbors in Silicon Valley have to offer.
Your donation helps us keep the DSI free for students! In an environment where failure is part of the process, the DSI provides students with free access to all of its equipment and materials. As the DSI grows and expands, UCSC is committed to continuing free and low-cost solutions so that it remains a welcoming and supportive environment for the creative process.
To ensure that all UC Santa Cruz students have access to technology for developing these in-demand skills, the Digital Scholarship Innovation Studio needs more funding. This is where you come in!
- A gift of $10 can cover the yearly cost of materials for a student using the Glowforge laser cutters.
- A gift of $50 can provide spools of environmentally sustainable filament for our 3D printers.
- A gift of $100 can provide an academic quarter’s worth of materials for our Cricut Maker machines.
- A gift of $1,500 can help us purchase an electric filament shredder to prepare any 3D printed waste for recycling.
Thank you for helping the DSI to provide free access to equipment and materials for UCSC students.
