We are the UCSC ARCA Club, where we work together with volunteer coordinators at the American Red Cross Association to help students find volunteer opportunities. In addition to working with the Red Cross, we also create events on campus. Some examples include:
- CPR Pop-Ups: Volunteers and officers of the club who have their BLS/CPR certification bring dummies provided by the Red Cross to teach students walking by a quick tutorial on CPR and other disaster training.
- Sound the Alarm: UCSC student volunteers work with the Santa Cruz Red Cross chapter to go to communities and homes in need to survey, install, and educate for free. Educating includes the importance of fire safety and disaster safety. Students who live off campus are encouraged to sign up for a functioning fire alarm.
- Pedro the Fire Safety Penguin: UCSC student volunteers coordinate with local elementary schools to go class to class to teach about fire safety to kids through an immersive book, as well as a Pedro the Penguin costume.

We have been recognized by the American Red Cross Association with its Volunteer Awards.
