City on a Hill Press has been dedicated to providing relevant news to the Santa Cruz community for 58 years, covering beyond the university and into Santa Cruz County. We highlight underreported issues, watchdog the university, provide a space for Santa Cruz students and residents to present their views and interact with the campus, and amplify underrepresented voices.
During the 2023–24 academic year, our staff worked tirelessly to produce thought-provoking coverage of the California Highway Patrol's report on the dangerous conditions of TAPS buses, overcrowding in Santa Cruz's Main Jail, and the month-long demonstration at the Palestinian Solidarity Encampment.
This year we are committed to delivering to our community the news it needs. Contributions will fund several scholarships for our unpaid staff members, support our production of printed issues, and preserve our ability to provide news to the campus and city.
