UC Santa Cruz's student run radio station, KZSC 88.1 FM provides a transformative media and nonprofit management education. Since our origins in 1967, we have served the diverse communities surrounding the Monterey Bay with news, entertainment, and emergency broadcasts.
KZSC is a volunteer driven, and listener supported FM radio station that makes intentional space for underrepresented voices.
KZSC has prepared UC Santa Cruz students for careers in news journalism, entertainment media and in nonprofit management.
KZSC students innovate; exercise critical thinking; assume citizenship and leadership responsibilities; manage people, budgets and sales; develop personal discipline and enterprising problem solving; and practice teamwork. Their engagement increases their sense of community at UC Santa Cruz and aids in retention, satisfaction and success.
